Dean Fleischer Camp is an Academy Award nominated writer, director, producer and New York Times-bestselling author. Since appearing on Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2011, Camp's work at the intersections of comedy, character animation, and documentary storytelling has been profiled in virtually every major American media outlet. His debut feature FRAUD (2018)– a true crime “doc” crafted from a total stranger's YouTube uploads– debuted to widespread controversy and acclaim, hailed as a "brilliantly provocative" (Filmmaker) “masterwork”(Documentary Magazine) that “pushes the boundaries of documentary”(Variety) while also inciting heated debate and even physical altercations at its festival screenings. His sophomore effort MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON, released theatrically via A24, became the best-reviewed film of 2022 (Rotten Tomatoes), garnering Best Animated Film BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Academy Awards nominations. Camp has also directed award-winning commercial campaigns for clients like HBO, Turner, Comedy Central, Kellogg’s, Shopify and many others. He lives in Los Angeles.
